Tokyo, Mar 24 (Prensa Latina) Prominent chess player Bobby
Fischer termed US President George W. Bush and Japanese Prime
Minister Junichiro Koizumi war criminals, and held them
responsible for his kidnapping eight months ago.
"This is not a detention, it is an abduction concocted by Bush
and Koizumi," asserted Fisher upon arrival at the Narita airport
where he was arrested in July for holding an invalid passport.
The ex ace chess player, who has repeatedly criticized the White
House administration, said Bush and Koizumi should be hanged.
Fischer was imprisoned at the Ushiko detention center for
illegal immigrants for eighth months. There, he fought to avoid
his extradition to the US, where he is wanted for violating the
Washington blockade on former Yugoslavia in 1992, when he played
a rematch against Boris Spassky.
Early this week, Icelandīs Parliament granted Fisher Icelandic
citizenship and a passport, and Japanese Justice Minister Chieko
Noono agreed to set him free as he was granted the new status.
Following his release, Bobby Fisher flew to Reykjavic, capital
of Iceland.
"I have nothing against Japan but you have a criminal
government," he told the Japanese who bid him farewell. |
