The Simon Wiesenthal Center has protested the granting of
Icelandic citizenship to former world chess champion Bobby
Fischer, noting that his Holocaust denial and notoriously
anti-Semitic view were in violation of Icelandic law.
In a statement issued in Jerusalem, the center's Israel director
Dr. Efriam Zuroff called on the Icelandic authorities to rescind
their decision, noting that since Fischer's arrival in the
country he has already violated Icelandic law which forbids
incitement based on "national, color, race, religion or sexual
orientation." |
